Sonic Producer Review by Justin East – January 4, 2010
If you’ve ever tried the club scene then there’s a chance you’ve listened to a personal mix by the club DJ and you thought to yourself, “I want something like that.” If so, your wish is not as impossible as you think. I’m here to help you with that…welcome to Part 1 of my Sonic Producer reviews.
Techno music, due to its dominant use of beats instead of lyrics, may seem complicated to create but it’s actually easier than you think. Your three essential requirements for producing Techno music are a foundational understanding of music, a wonderful beat maker such as Sonic Producer and letting your creative streak run free.
For a basic introduction to techno music, the first thing you have to understand its two primary facets.
Techno music could be a mash-up: this refers to how techno songs are the unique result of overlaying two or multiple tracks. The trick to it is finding the right combination of songs.
On the other hand, techno music could be a bootleg. You could use loops from certain songs as well as various elements from other sources then add them all together with your original song.
Now that we’ve got the techno music basics covered, the next thing you have to do is find a beat maker for your use. If you have no idea which program to use, we have a recommendation: the Sonic Producer program. But don’t go rushing to open a new tab for it…just download Sonic Producer after reading this review. We still have a few things we need to discuss before we can turn you into a respectable DJ for your own house party.
Using the Sonic Producer software is easier if you have a basic grasp of beat making. Firstly, you need to decide if you wish to use live beats, pre-recorded ones, or both. You also have the option of downloading pre-mixed tracks if you don’t want to start from scratch just yet.
Generally speaking, a percussion beat is the first element you’ll hear in techno music as this dictates the music’s primary tempo. Thus, you need to start with that with the Sonic Producer. Once you’ve set a tempo for your song, proceed with adding a bass line and setting its rhythm. It is these two that will distinguish your song from everything else so don’t be afraid to explore and experiment with the help of Sonic Producer.
Also, make sure that your song has all the necessary components: intro, chorus, climax, and conclusion. If you miss one, it just won’t sound right. But again, there’s nothing to worry about because the Sonic Producer will help you chart your song’s components and prevent you from forgetting any crucial detail.
I’ve tried and reviewed a lot of different programs and I’d recommend the Sonic Producer for beginners and pros alike. It has all the pertinent features for creating techno music so all you’ll have to worry about is finding the ideal inspiration for your song.
May your funky muse inspire you to create the best beats!
